It sounds as though you just need to select "specify calculation".
In a calculation, you can string together text and field values with an ampersand between them, sort of like this:
"Dear " & table::namefirst & ", here is the data from your report about " & table::thingTheReportIsAbout & ". Please contact us if you have any questions."
Does that help?
Sorry for the followup question :-o
How do I make a return so put text on a new line? I tried using HTML code " " but that didn't work.
Is there a place where I can get answers to scripting questions like this, without posting menages every time?
HTML "new line" is
(left angle bracket, br, right angle bracket
if you're using pure FileMaker formulas to create the text, add the 'Pi' character (or the 'paragraph sign') from the fromula editor (in the upper middle part in the formula editor). I'm on an iPad, therefore I can't post a screenshot

I never would have guessed that this task would be a "calculation" as not one operation (+-*/) is used, but it makes sense now. I really appreciate everyone who took time from their day to help me make my solution work. Thanks folks!!

Operator-ness is in the eye of the operand – '&' is the ”string concatenation operator”
