Enter the url to your web direct database in Safari then click open in icon (box with up arrow), then click Add to Home screen. On an Android enter the url in the web browser then click the 3 dot icon (action menu) in top right corner then click Add to Home screen.
Thanks for your reply. I actually tried what you suggest but unfortunately, the systems (at least OS X and iOS) do not allow storing the URL the way is is required.
The URL shall give access to a database via WD. It looks like this:
Having received the URL via email, I can save it in the reading list and call the database by clicking the link. All works fine until here. But once I have used the link, the referenced URL is reduced to "http:google.com". Alle the rest is gone, which renders the link dysfunctional for further use.
So I am looking for a way to allow users storing the URL conveniently on the home screen, without it's content being cut short at first use.
OS X and iOS Web apps can use a standard procedure for putting a web page icon on the home screen:
For Android Chrome it's quite similar:
Now for FileMaker WD, is there a standard way how to put such a web page icon on home screen, that keeps the URL as defined? And how can a button be placed on a WD page, in order to trigger the placement of the web page icon on the home screen?
I am not that deep into web technology and would be grateful for advise.
According to FM Web Direct Guide the url is http://ipaddress/fmi/webd#database which will work on ios, android, pc, and mac , which can be added to the home screen as I stated. Each device may allow different methods to more customize to your needs.
