if i was in the middle of entering text and had to stop to acknowledge such a popover it would probably be the last time i used the software. These types of things can be done but cause more user frustration than they are worth. You should only disrupt a users workflow for a critical error condition not just a nice to have suggestion.
thanks for the suggestion i was thinking that this would open after the information was entered and before it was closed. i agree i would not want to keep turning off popups and that sort of stuff
Yes. You can do this. Basically seems like you want to make sure any materials used are documented.
When the work order is finalized you can use your line items to generate a list of common items that may have been used.
I Would put this on a finalize job or end of day button. This could generate a popover with the suggested items. You can even build it to track partial items that may be used across many projects such as 15ft of tack strip or 1/2 bucket of paint.
Tthe degree of detail really dictates how much scripting needs to be done. You may also just generate automatic entry of the materials by line item. Some jobs may actually use less and some use more but on average it should work out.
I would create a script which is:
If [ Position ( ItemDescription ; "repair" ; 1 ; 1 ) ]
Go To Object [ "popover.question" ]
... attach this script to your ItemDescription field using script trigger OnObjectExit. Open your popover and object name it "popover.question".
thank you so much. This got me going.
