In the past I have created a solution whereby a user without full access, was able to create accounts. However, without full access, I have no way of enabling them to edit OR delete those accounts. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.
I think "without full access" mean "no way to modify".
In the case you need at least an account he can create script.
Yes I created a way to do that years ago. But what I want is a way for an end user (i.e. without full access), to delete or edit existing accounts. Therein lies the rub. It's a snap to set up a way for end users to create accounts.
Deleting script need to be set as
"Run script with full access privileges to enable users with less than full access privileges to perform this script step"
So, you need make the script before deleting full access account, or there need an account to create the script.
"Edit account" is not in script steps, so there may be no way.
The Account script steps include:
Reset Account Password
Even a non-full access user can runs scripts that have Full Access privileges (if you enable that option for a script).
Not sure you understand. I have easily created a script several years that allows the user to create accounts. That isn't the challenge. But if they want to delete or able or edit accounts, they are hooped and need to call me to do that since I am the only one with full access. I know there is no script step to edit or delete accounts that is why I'm asking if anybody has a way around this.
The Delete Account step will let you delete. As to what you are actually meaning by edit an account, you would need to give more information. If you do not believe Delete Account is what you are wanting then perhaps you need to be a little more specific. By the way - Delete Account came in with FMP7 - assume you are using a more recent version than that?
I'm thinking it's time to encourage an upgrade. I think the only way would be for them to delete an account and start a new one. That isn't so bad. This company in particular does not want me to give anybody in their IT dept full access.
No, old version for this client but I think we'll encourage an upgrade (about time). By edit I meant to change access privileges. But I think really the simplest thing to do wold be to have a delete script to get rid of an account and then a create script to create an account and they can set the privilege set that way. Thanks.
Yes, version upgrade sounds very much overdue . Then you'll be able to have a delete script.
Oh man, I have clients on all version of FM. From 5.5 to current!
