What layout are you referring to in the Estimates file?
What kind of report are you needing?
There are multiple ways to do this. You're not actually creating a break. You're simply putting fields of customer data on one side and something else to show the report you're looking for.
Do you happen to have a mockup of what you're looking for?
one can't really controll page breaks - at least, when fields are 'bigger' than one page...
- You can have separate layouts for reports and one for the record of that customer (assuming that it fits on a single page, 2 sided) and have FileMaker to print each page in a separate print-job (same script)
- You can also place the report and the record-date on one layout - activate the page-brakes (only visual) in layout mode and place all of the data onto the first 2 pages
- printing into pdf's, You can have the first page from each a layout 'normally' as a pdf, the second page (from a different layout if needed) as a pdf with the option 'combine with existing pdf (or similar, don't have an english system here)
Thanks for the reply. In the Estimates file there's a layout that shows the customer details on the left hand side and on the right are two lists. One being pending estimates the other accepted. Im wanting to create a similar file to Estimates but finding it to difficult to remove what I don't need in Estimates so I'm attempting to build a new file.
Thanks for the help.
I see that layout. The information on the right is simply portals showing different related records. The top one is filtered to show the Pending, and the bottom one is filtered to show accepted.
You can easily build this for your own type of solution. If you don't know about portals, you can find information online or ask questions here about that.
I appreciate your assistance but could you also advise where is the best place to get the information to enable me to develop those portals. I am totally new to Filemaker and database development for that matter.
