Is it possible to spread out the FM desktop over 2 monitors with a script?
I'm using version 11.0v3
I doubt it. You can certainly have a second window open and put that on a second monitor, but I don't believe you can have a single window spread out over two monitors.
Not natively, but you can use AppleScript or VBScript to stretch the window over the two monitors. Ideally. the desktops would be the same size. You will not be able to do the full screen for two monitors on a mac.
Oh cool, how do you open a second window? -DJ
Sorry, I think we are talking different things. Why do you need the second window? I thought you are trying to stretch the same window onto the second desktop. Could you give more details? Are you on a mac or pc?

-That is what I want to do. I never knew that was possible. How do you do it? -DJ (Using version 11.0v3 PC for this)
I am afraid, keywords meant "on the mac".
On a PC the windows have to be inside the main application window.
Once again - what are you trying to achieve?
In FM open a new window from the menu Window > New Window. This will initially open a duplicate of your current window, but you can then change it to a new layout, new found set, etc. and the two windows will operate independently of each other. Or you can script this process. Developers often use this technique in order to perform an operation involving record or layout switching and then close the new window and return the user to the original window which will still be in the state it was before the script.
As far as setting up a second monitor is concerned, this is pretty straightforward on a Mac; I assume it is also on a PC but I don't know the steps—perhaps someone else will chime in.
Once the second monitor is on, I can simply drag any window towards the second monitor (which can be set to be left or right of the main monitor) and it will flip over to the second monitor as it leaves the edge of the first. Again, you can script this in FM by setting the window position such that it will open on the second monitor (you might need to do some testing as to the settings required.
As Nicolai already mentioned, on Windows you can't move window without resizing main window. (You can move, but it will be clipped by edge of main window)
