Button with a script in an external table to filter an other external table

    aquirio

      Hi All,

I have a model with two external tables (one for each table).

      The first one content 'Groups'

      The second one content 'Elements'

I would like to insert in the first external table a button for each 'Group' line.

When I will clic on this button I would like to see all the 'Elements' that belongs to this specific 'Group'.

I have a value that link these two tables.

Can I use a specific script or a built in function for that ?

Thank you for your kind help !

      Aquirio.

You can make relationship with the "value that link", then apply "Go to Related Records" to the button.

If you make a "portal", you don't need button to see. When go to a record in "Groups", related "Elements" are shown in portal.

This is essentially what portals do. Buttons are on Layouts. Scripts are in Files. Neither Buttons nor Scripts are actually directly tied to a Table. Well maybe a button kinda is, but it's really not.

What do you mean by external? In a different file? On a different Server?

              Hi,

              Thank you for your messages.

The two tables are in the same database.

I will try to be more clear ;-)

In one layout (model) I have inserted a table with data that are extracted from the "group table" : opportunities

At the bottom of this layout I would like to have another table in which I would see actions that came from the "actions table".

Each action is related to an opportunity.

Then in the top table I would have :

              Opportunity 1 I Open Date I Close date I customer I ...

              Opportunity 2 I Open Date I Close date I customer I ...

              Opportunity 3 I Open Date I Close date I customer I ...

and after selecting (button ?) one of these opportunity (for exemple "opportunity 1) I would have in an other table :

Action A I Phone I Date (related to opportunity 1)

Action B I Phone I Date (related to opportunity 1)

Action C I Phone I Date (related to opportunity 1)

Do you think that "value that link" would be the answer ?

              Thank you.
