Missing ODBC data source makes Filemaker Pro crash

    mfero

Product and version Filemaker Pro v.13 - v.14

OS and version: Mac OS 10.10 - 10.11

Description: A solution with an external ODBC datasource crashes at startup if the ODBC datasource is unavailable. Fields from the related ODBC datasource are present on the startup layout so the solution immediately prompts for the ODBC login credentials. Selecting "Cancel" causes Filemaker Pro to immediately crash.

      How to replicate: As above

Workaround: Open the database with Filemaker Pro v.12. Dismiss the ODBC login dialog ("Cancel"). This does not crash with FMP v.12. Delete the ODBC external data source reference. The file is now usable again on FMP v.13 or v.14.

          Thank you for your post.

What datasource are you using?  Oracle?  MySQL, SQL Server?

What version of the drivers are you using?

Are there any FileMaker Pro Calculation fields on the layout that reference the datasource?

Any other information you can provide may help Testing and Development narrow down the cause.
