you can purchase the upgrade paying a one time fee and not pay monthly. As far as I know 13 is not supported to run on El Capitan. Don't go with El Capitan until you have some reassurance that it will work.
Thanks Time Saver, FYI, I listened to you reply and this past week I upgraded both FMPA 14 and El Capitan
I did not believe that the $15/month subscription fee was available for individual licenses (must by 5 or the server software). Also, there is no discount for upgrades with subscriptions. Actually, given that I have updated FM regularly, I would have been better off with the subscription pricing, especially if there was an initial adjustment for users coming off of full purchases.
I am running 13.0v5 on el capitan and it seems ok
I am using small database to do home accounts and everything appears to work
I have a small script that runs applescript, not complex, and thats ok as well
need to caution that this a small non commercial database and you should do some testing.
If you happen to have VMware fusion you could try and install a virtuall version of El Capitan and test in there
hope this helps
There's also a weird behavior, at least on my OSX El Captain.
You can now run FileMaker in Full Screen Mode, unfortunately when main window is in Full Screen, Custom Dialog box pops up also in Full Screen which is very annoying. Takes up the whole screen.
14 is so much better in every possible way.
One problem I've run into running El Capitan and FileMaker 13 is that some scripts that output a PDF will cause it to crash. I can run the same script again and it will run ok. Then run again and crash again.
