Keep in mind that we don't know what your database looks like (schema) and what you have in the Payout tab. Some screen captures could help a lot.
You don't want to delete any records. Do you mean you don't want to SEE the data from 2015?

rreedyjax its not a good idea to keep creating new threads for the same discussion because it makes it difficult for anyone to follow the complete discussion should someone else encounter the same issue you have encountered.
I am going to suggest that you acquire the FM Training series and work through it so that you will be better able to communicate your wants in this forum. It will also give you a solid foundation on which to build your solution.
I'm only suggesting this because your questions don't give us forum participants enough details to give you a solution without making some seriously wild guesses.
A very simple way is to create a global text field in your main table and create a numeric calculation in the Payouts table that gets the Year of the Payout Date. Place your global field on the main layout and set it up as a checkbox using 2014, 2015, 2016 etc. as values. Then include the _gtYearFilter field in the join to Payouts and aim it at the new YearOfDate field. You'd still keep whatever key connects your main table to Payouts.
