    Authentication via External Server

      Hello forum,

I have a question that I haven't been able to find an answer to myself.

We are currently in the process of migrating our employee database to a database hosted externally using FileMaker Server 14 and posted to an easy to read and edit WebDirect page. We wanted to use external authentication via the Active Directory we currently have setup to make it easier to manage the access rights of various employees and managers. We have created the groups needed and assigned the privileges sets accordingly. The problem is that the webserver is hosted externally and is not part of our Active Directory.

I was wondering if there was a way to do "Cross-Domain" authentication, where the client is authenticated via his domain`s Active Directory and that the server could verify this authentication status and transmit it to the FileMaker Server to verify the user is authenticated and to set the privileges accordingly to the ones the user should have.

Sorry for the weird phrasing, english is not my native language.

Thank you for reading, and hopefully answering!
