Layout switching is all about context, the relationship graph, and the method of switching layouts.
Just using the layout drop down menu on the tool bar will take you to the layout and will land you on a record in the found set.
You should read up on the Go To Related Record script step and the Go To Layout Script steps if your trying to switch layouts from a button or some other scriptable action.
A found set is a property of a TO. If the second layout is hooked to a different TO, you'll see a different found set. Moving to the new layout using GTTR will show the same record.
Ok, that is helpful. When I do a "find all" and switch from layout to layout, the record stays the same, so at least now I know why it is changing. I'm not using a script of any sort, just doing a find for a particular record, and then switching to a different layout from the drop down. So I will bone up on your suggestions.
Thanks very much!
