FileMaker 9 won't open file after crash: "is currently in use and could not be opened."

I see that others have had this error, so I apologize if I am looking for a solution that I am not seeing somewhere on the boards...

I am using an older version of FileMaker and the database I'm trying to open (a .fp7 file) lives on my hard drive. I was trying to export some records to an Excel doc and FileMaker crashed during that export.

After that, when I try to open the file, I get the error that it is "currently in use and could not be opened." Unfortunately, I get the same error if I try to open it through Recents. If I try Recover, I get the error "This file is locked or in use."

I don't know what else to try. Has anyone solved this?

Any guidance is much appreciated! I really need to recover this data.

      Much thanks.
