Do you observe this on one particular macine or on more than one machine?
If the indexes get corrupt then you can will see that type behavior. You can rebuild just the indexes under the advanced options using recover.
So far just one machine.
Thanks Schamblee- I will try that. It's hard to know if I should mark that as a correct answer, as it's a sort of rare problem, but I'll come back and do so if that seemed to to the trick.
This has come up before. I seem to recall that clearing the font cache was the solution.
Thank you keywords. I will try that as well.
I have had this issue and the answers were the following:
It only happens on Ariel font
If you change the zoom from 100% it renders correctly
Delete C:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT, then restart the computer
Update Adobe to current version
Best of luck, Tom
There have been several font issues lately on posted on the forum. If it was an index issue the whole record would most likely be garbage text. Hopefully one of the fixes stated above will fix your issue. You might want to post a follow up, if you find a solution, incase others run into this same issue.
Here is a link from with the same issue that Tom had reported. FileMaker Pro 14: Some fonts are replaced with an unreadable .tmp font | FileMaker. I understand from other post that the layout / record will appear corrupt with this issue, too.
