Function to determine if debugger is currently being used

The solution I am working on has a few search fields that use a type ahead script trigger to filter a portal so that the user can find the person out of a long list.  Quite frequently when testing other scripting I have debugger on and go into one of those search fields and start typing - only to discover that debugger has halted my typing at the first character.  Now I know that I can disable the script triggers in debugger to allow me to type the whole name, and then enable the script triggers again after I've typed the whole name.

However I was wondering if there is any function or programmatic way of determining if debugger is on.  If so, the beginning of those scripts like this could take note of the fact that debugger is on and be set to escape the script in that instance.  For me, in this particular situation I think it would be very handy.  Does anyone know of a way to determine if debugger is currently being used?
