This sounds like it could be really helpful in our environment - lots of separate solutions hosted on an FMS install; differing usage patterns for each; a couple being very large file sizes (multiple GBs) and many much smaller ones. I've forwarded the info to IT as they would need to be involved.
Checking: FMS v12 compliant? (Windows environment)
Thank you for your efforts!
Does the tool take into account how FMS does hard-linking? If not then the size reported for the backups may not reflect the actual disk space consumed. To avoid confusion the tool should also report on the remaining free disk space.
It sure would be nice to have both pieces of information... the size hard-linked and the size if it were a full backup. That would help in determining different space needs.
should work fine with fms 12. it's not filemaker version dependant.
it's all filesystem - with some special sauce becuase php can't handle filesize > 2GB - which is a problem for those 100GB databases
we will update to report the actual disk usage - not each hardlinked file - so administrator groups have accurate disk usage accounting.
FYI the command is
> fsutil hardlink list "d:\FMS_Backups\Daily_2015-12-21_2300\Databases\joshua\App Maker.fmp12"
and it will list all instances
