    Reported yet still unresolved bugs

      I have a solution I sell to various parties.  All solutions are hosted on FM Server 14.4.  Since updatine solution to 14 I have had multiple bugs that have never happened in all previous versions

       

      Product and version FMP & FMPA 14.4

      OS and version Windows 8.1 & 10

      Description Ariel Font going bad

      How to replicate

      Workaround: change Magnification, close update Adobe, remove C:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT

      Issue can still return after these steps.

      Description FileMaker open in minimized mode  (Has happened on 3 different customer computers

      How to replicate

      Workaround: Open task manager, Click on FileMaker, Click on Maximize

      Workaround: My solution even on the unhosted version I work on crashes 4-5 times every week since moving to 14

      Attempted Workaround: Sent file in to TS and they said it was sorted portals on the landing layout (they were not able to replicate) I removed sort in the portals.  File still will crash upon open,  Re reported to TSGal, no reply

      Description Searches fail to return correct data

      How to replicate

      Workaround: This NEVER HAPPENED until 14, I have used Filemaker from version 1.  Now I have had 3 customers report this.   This is the basic standard of any database, it returns the correct data!  A reboot is needed to fix this.

          -Could you give me some more detail on when the crash is occurring? (ie. Saving a Script in Script Workspace, Clicking on a certain type of object, changing layouts, etc.)

          -Is the above issue occurring in multiple files?

          -Could you send me a sample file and steps to reproduce?

          -Could you explain what you mean by "my solution will not open"? (ie. Is inaccessible through Launch Center, the application crashes, etc.)

          -Could you send me the file (or provide a case number for technical support where I might find a reference to your file) and steps to reproduce the issue?

                I sent you an email with a detail on all of the above.

                 

                Did you not get that email?

                 

                As far as the MAC.  The file crashes after the opening script has run, when it attempts to render the landing page.

                          No further instructions on the crash rather than opening the file? I saw no issue with simple Finds I made.

                           

                          I will say, I ran Recover on your file.

                          "WARNING: problems were detected while recovering the database.  The recovered file should NOT be used going forward; copy only the most recent work from it into a backup copy of the original file."

                          You might want to check into Knowledge Base Article #5421 for what to do when your file is damaged. While the file is damaged, I would expect to see inconsistencies such as crashes or searches not performing properly.

                            TS The issues detected are not what is causing this problem.  As I mentioned this is a hosted file.  The one issues on find is only on one local computer not another.  It goes away with a restart of the solution.  It is on the local computers index.

                             

                             

                            Add to my growing list…

                             

                            I now have the 2nd customer that when they open a webviewer (via Decode button) the program crashes 100% of the time. The 1st customer was using 14.3 when I updated to 14.4 problem continued.

                             

                            I removed a Windows update that had happened the night before and updated all the Windows.  Problem then went away 

                            Next Customer Updated from 14.3 to 14.4 restarted.  Issues continues.  Checked and they have all updates (Windows 8.1). 

                            I removed Windows update: KB3132372. And now it works. 

                            So That update is crashing the Web Viewer.   More wasted hours of time and now I await more customers with this issue and no fix from FileMaker
