if you want any user to be able to have the same value in a global then set the value using set field in a script that is triggered On First Window Open.

I have a solution in which I had created with 5 Global fields. They just are a place holder for NDA information and instructions (in a Tab Control). I need the fields to appear in all the records. It seems from reading Global fields do not work when using Server?
Global fields work just fine on FileMaker Server.
Where the confusion lies is that their values are set prior to uploading them to FileMaker Server. In other words, you cannot (easily) change the value of a global field once it has been uploaded to FileMaker Server without taking the file down, making the change, and then re-uploading the file.
So, if you populate the values of your five global fields prior to uploading your solution you should get the results you are looking for.
Another options would be to just have the text in text boxes on the layout instead of in fields.
Chris- Sadly the Text box "Text" get rearranged in Web Direct. It does not show the same as on the FM Pro Browse.
Steve- Thank you, that makes sense now. I was frustrated when I made a change and didn't realize the upload state.
The normal way to do this is to create a single-record preferences table that has standard fields in it.
Then, modify your startup script so that it sets the global fields using the data from this preference table.
Relying on last-uploaded state for global fields is not really a practical approach.
