DId you try it?
Thanks for the reply Bruce,
I didn't try because;
1.) It sounded like it would be a field or a button that is constant for every record.
2.) I'm a novice to FMP and the instructions weren't really clear as to how to make my text field a clickable URL using the Open URL method.
I'm happy to try it but again, I'm unclear as to how to do it.
Did you look here? FileMaker 14 Help for Open URL
Where it specifies how to use a field in the calculation?
Note that generally, where a calculation is involved, you can use fields in the calculation, either by themselves or in combination, see example 3 for instance.
Another question: what is going to be the difference between clicking in the field to edit the text of the URL; and clicking in the field to actually open the URL? Perhaps you do want a button for the Open URL action.
If you have a fully formed URL (http://www.…) in the text field, then you can select the field and control-click* it. This opens a context popup menu on Mac. One item on this menu is "Open http://www.…" Select it and your URL opens in your browser.
* There's probably an equivalent key sequence on Windows but I don't know it.
Yes, Bruce I did look at the Open URL link you provided. But again, the page doesn't explain how to actually modify the field to make it an Open URL clickable field. Again, I'm novice and I am assuming I need to modify the text field somehow but it doesn't tell me how. You mention calculations but I'm not sure what type of calculation I'm supposed to make?
Maybe this video will help show what I'm trying to do.
DId you download and try the example file?

Wow Bruce, this worked BRILLIANTLY! Thank you so much! I'm dropping Open URL scripts all over my database now!
I assume I should start another thread for this follow up question but is there a similar script to click on the email button that will launch your web browser to gmail and email the client?
I'm working with fmp 15.. Is the solution to text- url - open in browser the same?
