You can hold down the Shift key and select multiple values.
You can also use checkboxes in the field, provided there aren't too many values.
Is it possible to add 2 names in the same field using a dropdown list?
I have a dropdown list with several names:
and I would like to select names and they would be added in the same field one after another, something like ( John, Mark, Tom)
Thank you for all the help.
If you hold down the SHIFT key when selecting items in the drop-down list and press RETURN / ENTER to exit the field then the multiple values will be entered into the field in a list format (that can then be parsed using the various "list" and "value" functions that are part of FileMaker Pro.)
As an alternative, a field can be formatted using checkboxes which are designed to allow for multiple values to be selected - drop-down lists really aren't (but they work)
Thank you Mike!
So simple the Shift option but I could not see it!
Keep in mind that when you do this, your are creating return-delimited lists of ext, and the text is in the order in which you enter them, just like a checkbox list.
For instance, if you check: John / Mike / Tom
you will get a different text string than if you check: Tom / John / Mike
This can affect search results when using multiple word strings.
Thanks Stephen! I will keep it in mind.
