Do you have any helper field in the table?
Can you get result by
ExecuteSQL("SELECT * FROM yourtable";"";"")
Hi there, not sure what you mean by helper field?
Selecting * does give me the results I'm after, and, after more investigation, the results do actually come through, but it takes 10 mins or so, so I' investigating the performance issue now, rather than the calc/request itself.
Thanks for your help though!
I ponder why using ExecuteSQL() function? Since it only pushes to a text field (or variable), for what do you use the results? Would it not be better to use FM native find/sort on the MySQL table?
Can you post your query? perhaps that's what needs to be analyzed.
Thanks for getting back to me. The query in question is really just an example - I need to build a number of queries on the table, the results of which form variables for a larger script, the complexity of which is probably beyond the scope of this thread. Really I was just curious as to any reasons why I'd get this odd behaviour from the query, when other queries, using the same syntax, on other tables in the same ODBC source work fine.
In any case, I've ended up going down your suggested route and am now using native Filemaker Functionality, although my ERD is a lot more complex than I'd prefer....
