filemaker 7 mac os compatibility/migration questions

Have pretty much had it with Apple's intentional backward incompatibility of virtually

everything I've wanted to keep using through the years, so just seeking a few simple answers.

and path of least resistance for a migration/transition situation.

Need to migrate data from iMac running 10.6.8 snow leopard to new mac mini late-2012 model

capable of running anything from OSX 10.7 forward.   10.68 is the 'final' usable OS

for many of my preferred apps...and of course it can't be installed on any Macs newer than

2012 forcing use of Mtn Lion or newer OS.  I really don't care which OS as long as its stable -

i don't use/need/care about most of the bloated features of newer OS's. It's a platform for my

      apps. period.

In the case of Filemaker, I have to bring forward documents currently in Filemaker 7 on the older

machine.  What is the best Mac OS - not necessarily newest - to allow for this...and which FM

version would be the earliest stable version to 'move up to' from FM 7 on the 'newer' OSX --be

it Mtn Lion thru El Capitan.  Will FM 7 docs open in newer FM versions?

Thanks for any recommendations on a sensible strategy.
