Hmm. I tested out a bunch of things and can't get the popup or dropdown list to open. It seems like that field control is meant for the user to click on/interact with. Maybe someone else has a great idea.
Hmmmm. Not sure I can help, but what platform are you on and what version are you using?
There is a known bug with a pop-up menu... posted here:
That said, we have a FM13 database (updated from legacy versions, served from FMS13 on an iMac), that has a script to update a Status field. After giving the user a reminder to check that all notes were entered, and setting two other fields, it has this step:
Go to Field [MainJobs::Job Status]
At that point, the script ends, and the drop-down list for the Job Status field immediately shows. This works on both Mac and PC clients. We have other scripts with Go to Field steps that work this way, including one that pops up a calendar.
In the Inspector, "Control Style" is drop-down list, and it is set to show values from a value list. Field entry is checked for both Browse and Find mode. The field itself is just a text box; Allow user to override during data entry is checked and Indexing is All. Could it be a permissions issue?
It works for me. I don't have the 'Include arrow to show and hide list' checked.
In the script for Go to Field, I have the box at the bottom checked 'Select/perform'.
If you have to show the arrow, just place an arrow as an object/button with the same script step, Go to Field, and check Select/perform
Sorry asked the question then had to dash off, I sorted it I just needed to remove the "include arrow" bit and it works.
Many thanks for your help
