Yes I had the same problem, or at least similar. All of a sudden seems like the command key doesn't work anymore. I just restart FileMaker and that solves the problem.
There was a time it seemed it was caused by a script still running (and being paused). Before that I thought it was a Mac OS fault, but it only happened in FileMaker.
Yes, this worked for me, too.
Point for troubleshooters/analysts: The command key still worked, for pasting & cmd-z -- remove pasted formatting. But many of the other controls were suppressed. It looked sorta like the user was restricted from messing with a layout, invoking a script, inserting a date or time via a cmd-key method, or otherwise doing anything that might be 'under the hood.' I can see why it might be a good idea to simplify & restrict a user from messing with details they weren't meant to mess with. BUT, I want to know where I go to turn this off or on. Maybe the Help file will help. If I can only figure out the words they use to index the item.
And rrichie, thanks so much for your answer. It worked, and well. Even if we don't feel totally in control of the system.
Well in general, but not the cause of this issue, there are different user rights you can assign in the security section. File -> Manage -> Security. There you can assign privilege sets (in FM14 first click use detailed setup)
Another thing is custom menus where one can hide different menu options or just create you own. (File -> Manage -> Custom Menus)
I think it's a bug actually, but since I can't reproduce it at will, I haven't filed it.
