Running FM 7 for Mac and want to upgrade. Will my database still work with a newer or the newest FM version.
It will need to be converted to the updated (.fmp12) file format (which the new version of FIleMaker Pro will do for you) and you might need to make a tweak or two to your solution to make it work properly with some new features / functionality / enhancements - but for the most part your FileMaker Pro 7 (.fp7) file should be just fine.
fp7 files will not run in fm12 and above as is, your file will be cloned then convert to fmp12. You will have to do some updating to take advantage of new features.
Thanks Steve. So should I be buying FM12 for Mac or FM14?

FIleMaker Pro 14 is the latest version so there is no reason not to get that. FileMaker 12, 13, and 14 all use the same .fmp12 file format.
fp7 was the file format for fm7 to fm11 and fmp12 is the file format for fm 12 to 14. 14 is the newest version at this time.
