    Report question

    ms.15

      I have a table with a value and NameA and NameB

      Value = 1, NameA

      Value = 2, NameB

      Value = 3, NameA

      In a Report I want to list the values together in one field next to the Name:

      NameA: 1, 3

      NameB: 2

      How can this be done?

          You can list the values underneath the name by using a sub summary part and sorting on the Name:

          Mary

               1

               7

               8

               11

          John

               1

               3

               11

          etc.

          You could also put the values in a field as you request, but it creates difficulty with sizing the field.  That is, the size of the field is dependent on the maximum number of values in a field.

            If you have a table where each record represents a value you want, you can create a relationship between that table and the related values. Then, a relatively simple unstored calculation would create the value you want:

                 Substitute ( List ( values::value ) ; "¶" ; ", " )

            However, as Daniel mentions, this has issues when lots of values are present.
