I am trying to build the iPad version of my existing filemaker Database. Could you please help me with the steps I have to follow. Also I am working on Filemaker Pro 12 version.
There really aren't any "steps" to follow, really. Your existing database can simply be copied to the iPad and used. Of course, there are some issues to think of while you do it:
1) Screen size. Use the stencils in Layout mode to set up your layout to fit properly on the screen.
2) It's often useful to account for the portrait and landscape mode. You can use object anchoring, or even separate layouts, to optimize the screen rotation.
3) The mobile platform has some differences that you can leverage for better data entry. Typing on the mobile keyboard can be tedious, so make use of drop-downs and voice recognition, where appropriate.
If you have more specific questions, feel free to ask. HTH
Mike is correct for the most part you do not have to make changes to your database, but It is recommend to design your layout for the smaller screen and for the difference between ipad and a desktop computer. For example On a desktop hover is supported and the field will change colors, well hover is not support in FMGo. I usually have fewer and larger fields on the screen to make it easier to read and to tap into.
There has been several script steps added for FMGo since version 12, so it may be time to consider upgrading to FM14.

Thank you so much for your reply Mike. I thought I have to Goto-> Starter Solution->iPad Version and then create a new one. Could you please explain the difference between this one and copy my existing database to the iPad and use?
If you’re referring to the different layouts in the starter solutions for the different devices, they’re just different layouts. They give you a good idea of how the layout might be different for each device.
It’s different from your existing solution because your existing solution probably doesn’t have those device-specific layouts. That’s really all it is.
Thank you so much for your explanation Mike. It was really helpful. Thanks again
