# Calculation Field in a Summary to get total of percentage

I have a small database and I cannot for the life of me get the percentage of a total on the sub summary report.  DB is attached and the field is in red on layout #2.  The field is:  cTotal Cost  and is RED and the total sales for the month is in green.  I want to know what percentage of the red is of the green

Seems simple but OMG.

Thank you.

You the man.  I really appreciate that and now I can reverse engineer.  Really Thanks.

The percentages say 100% when its impossible.  Do you know why?

I made a few changes but you can use the file I gave originally.

Why would 100% be impossible? If the item total is equal to the summary, by definition, that's 100%.

thanks. What I am trying to do is figure for every month or year what percentage of that particular class makes up the total.

So if one class is 20k and the total sales for the month or year are 200k that's 10%.

Make sense.

Same principle, different break field. (Assuming I understand what you're asking; not entirely clear.) See attached.

(Although, given the range of data you're dealing with, I'm not sure what use this is.)

Thank you.  I do believe that is correct.

Basically I am trying to figure out on a monthly basis and then on a year basis the total sales and then with each class and its revenue what the percentage is.  In the end I look year over year to see by month and then by year what classes are making a higher percentage of revenue.  So maybe one month for 2014 Facials is 10% and then in the same month for 2015 its 25%.

Make sense?  Thanks   I will look now but I think its correct. Could never have done and searching the net returned nothing.

You're welcome. A big part of FileMaker development is studying the built-in functions and learning how they work. Will help with lots of situations.

Thanks. Yes.  The path toward being ok to good is a big deal but working on it.
