Do you have any restrictions on the the actual container on the layout. Script triggers?
Menu commands are set to minimum.
Vaughan's is probably the right answer, but I've got to ask...how does a user access the file? fmapp is not turned on!
David and Vaughan are both right:
When you have the minimum available menu commands the user will see this toolbar and the menu will mainly be greyed out as well. See the screendumps set in here.
So you can not create records AND you can not manipulate the content of the fields of already created records.
And as David ask: Are the users accessing via the network or is it a single user file just opened on one PC?
At least FMAPP or IWP must be turned on if you want to give the user access to the file on the network.
BTW: Is it FileMaker 11?
I would suggest that you move to FileMaker 14 ... there are many advantages to this. Also compatibility with newer OS's from Microsoft and Apple.
An extra suggestion, if you are new to Filemaker and are just testing now, I suggest that you try using the preset privilege set "Data Entry Only" as a start.
Or maybe even better, start by duplicating the "Data Entry Only" and give it an appropriate name and then you can experiment with the settings and learn how they work.
I hope you can use this advice.
It was the menu set to 'minimum' that was the problem. But thank you for all your inputs.
