User cannot connect to more than one shared database at a time

Our office has about 5 users than connect to several shared databases. These are hosted on a local network computer, on Filemaker Pro 14 (thru simple FMPro sharing).  Basically, we have one main print order database for the current year, and basic clones of that main file for each of the past several years.  It's sometimes necessary that a user connect to databases from multiple years in order to research previous customer orders. We have had one user (who has the same permissions) as all other users in the office who is unable to connect to more than one shared database at a time.

For instance, if he has the current year file open and attempts to open last year's shared file, then FMP forces him to close out the currently open file in order to open another.  We haven't been able to pinpoint why this happens to him and not to other users on the network.

Any suggestions on areas to look at to try and resolve this problem?
