    Windows 10 v1511 and FMP 14 Print/Preview Bug

      FileMaker Pro 14.0.4

      Windows 10 Pro version 1511

Occurs on both Windows 10 and Windows 2012 virtual machines

In addition to the acknowledged problem with script workspace, we've discovered another problem that has broken our insurance system's plastic card printing, which is a direct result of upgrading to Windows 10 build 1511 - this was working without problem before the update.

We use a printer to output plastic credit card sized insurance cards and, when the printer setup is changed to landscape as needed, we get 'The combined size of the Header plus the Footer is longer than can fit on the page. To print, first make the Header or Footer shorter or use longer paper.'

There is no header or footer on the layout and this message continues even if the layout is just a few pixels high and wide. The problem occurs both when attempting to print or when entering preview mode. When in preview mode the card layout is represented at the bottom of the screen without data as shown on the attached PNG file. The problem does not occur when in portrait mode, but this is of no use to the printer.

The print setup dimensions for the cards are 86mm x 54mm and can be replicated by setting up a printer using a Zebra P330i printer driver.

Please add this to the other reported problems with FileMaker 14 and this build of Windows.

          Thank you for your post.

I don't have access to a Zebra printer, so I am unable to test.

First, have you checked with Zebra to make sure their printer driver is compatible with Windows 10 build 1511?  Or, have other issues been reported?

On the FileMaker side, does this issue occur with all database files or just a specific database file.  For example, create a new database file, place a text object on the layout, go to Print Setup to select the printer, and then go to Preview.  If a new file works fine, return to your original file, create a new layout and see if the issue still occurs.

The screen shot shows the label extending beyond the bottom of the page.  FileMaker is simply using the printer driver information when rendering the screen.  What occurs if you extend the height of the Body part?
