Add new records in Import Actions will import from file and ONLY create new records in the Target table.
I'll bet that you want to import only the new records from the file into the Target table .... right?
To do that import the file into a table of its own (temp) and script a process to transfer the data from the (temp) table to the live table.
Thanks. I've been running the match records import script based on the original record creation timestamp (in excel file). That's the only way I could figure out not to duplicate records with each import. The problem was that it was updating the matching records with the original excel file data and so I'd loose any updates I'd made in the database. The temp table makes sense. However, what kid of script do I need to run to pull only the new records off the temp table? How complicated is it?
One possible pseudocode/prototype script without any details specific to your implementation.....
import the file data into the temp table
go to temp table layout
show all records
go to first record
If temp table record already exists in target/destination table then do nothing else move the record from temp to target
go to next (exit after last)
Awesome. Thanks a million. I will give this a try.
