I took a look at the page but I'm not having much success following the directions. Does this still allow to v14?
When exporting records, the top right section allows you to group fields. This is essentially a sub summary report, and will export unique rows to excel. Group by the URL field. You may also need to sort the found set by URL.
When I export my data, I do see the Group By box but currently it says "(Unsorted)". I tried to drag the URL field into the box or do something that would make it sort by URL but no success.
I'm only interested in knowing how many records are associated with each domain (ie: how many times each domain appears in my database.) Will this accomplish that?
I have 15 million records. 5 million have URL's. I doubt there will be more than 1 million unique URL's.
If you first sort the found set by URL, and then export it will be an option in the group by. What this will do is export each unique to its own row in excel.
If you would like a count, the best thing to do is to make a sub summary part when sorting by URL. Then simply put a new summary field into this layout part, with the option of "Count of = [URL field]". Also place the URL field into the subsummary so you can differentiate. I would recommend deleting the body part as well.
Once you have all of that set up, sort your records by URL and it will show you the counts by URL.
Thank you for the help. I'll give this a try after lunch and see how it goes.
I have not been able to accomplish what you suggested above. Would you (or someone else) be available to log into my computer via TeamViewer and quickly do it? I'll pay for your time.
I need this for the URL field and one for the Email field.
