Hi. Are you using FM to interactively work with the SQL data via the relationships graph or for static updates of data via Import Records and Execute SQL script step? Using ODBC and JDBC with FileMaker Pro
If you are setup to work interactively, then you should have an FM Table Occurrence (TO) in your relationships graph based on the SQL table. In your scripting, from a layout based on the relevant TO you may also need to run a Refresh Window script step from the layout that is based on the SQL. See here: Restoring links to ODBC data sources
That was all very helpful, I am using that data using relationships and just could not figure out how FileMaker was controlling when to update the connected SQL data and refresh the cache, but the Refresh Window script step has solved this thanks.
It has oddly been a long time since I have had to use the refresh window script step and I had completely forgotten about its ability to solve these types of problems!
Happy to help.
