In our database of books, we have a container field which displays the cover image of the book.
The images are stored on our local server network and named ISBN.jpg. The ISBN of the book is stored in the database so the container knows which image it's looking for.
This works almost all the time but occasionally a user will contact me to say that he/she can't see some covers. At the same time, his/her neighbour can see the same images. The database is remotely hosted if that makes a difference.
I've never been able to figure out why the same database will be able to find the cover image for a book for one user but not another at the same time for the same book - either the file exists or it doesn't. And then the user who couldn't see the images will log in the next day and all is well.
Can anyone give me any suggestions as to thing to try to actually solve this as opposed to just suggesting they get one of their colleagues to run off printouts when required?
