FileMaker has a robust collection of tools for working with text and value lists.
Its definately worth your time to learn these functions in depth.
If you concatenate the two fields with the concatention operator "&" you get...
You could then apply a custom function to the resultant value list that removes duplicates..
There are many listed so youll have to choose the one you want to work with and may have to tweak it to fit your application
try this, does it ring a bell ?
l1 = List ("third"; "sixth"; "third"; "first");
l2 = List("fourth"; "first"; "third")];
List("first"; "second"; "third"; "fourth"; "fifth"; "sixth"); list(l1; l2))
siplus, the values are single strings of words separated by carriage returns, and not separate string variables in a list. For instance, the following is what I have:
l1 = "first
However, it would be nice to have an option for converting this into an array, which appears to be what you're using.
read again. No arrays.
If you already have list of "ALL" stereotyped string values (each value are unique in the list like as "value list"), you can use it as 1st parameter of FilterValues() in siplus's answer.
If not, the answer doesn't work in this question.
