This is probably from copying/pasting formatted text. Try pasting plain text only, and you shouldn't see the hidden formatting bits.
See the Edit menu for the paste options. You can also use auto-enter by calc to strip text formatting out. Explore the text formatting functions in the calc dialogue area.
Thanks for responding.
I think I got it! I modified my script to paste unformatted text into a field and then copy that field.
Very small change and I think the problem is gone.
My mistake, it appears the "paste no style" has no effect.
It's basically taking the default formatting for the new field and using it so I have to keep that field on the screen. I tried deleting it and it stopped working.
So far, it is working though.
Is there some trouble-shooting for the Dymo system? did it work before FM upgrade?
Dymo doesn't seem to offer much, no option to paste without formatting etc. I did email their support but I don't have much hope in getting help from them on the subject.
With Filemaker 6 it worked fine, but it seemed like that version never copied formatting, period.
I'm finding there was a lot version 6 didn't do that 14 does and I'm really liking it.
A few hiccups and growing pains as to be expected, but nothing terrible.
Since you have the Dymo printer already, why not download the (free) drivers for it and print directly from FMP? I've been doing that for years, the driver has all the sticker sizes, you make a layout for each sticker size and print like printing to any other printer.
If you are doing any amount of this, the initial setup time investment will outrun the cutting and pasting in no time.
I don't know if it will solve your extra character problem, but I've never had this happen.
That never even occurred to me.
I just spent 2 hours working on it to get it to work and I think I've got it.
That's going to save a whole lot of time as well as unclutter my desktop a little. Thank you!
So I've run into an issue I'm not sure how to fix.
I'd like to be able to type in information, and have Filemaker retain that for all records so as I go through different records, I can print that information on the tables without it changing.
Meaning, project name, quantity etc is the same for 100-200 parts, so I don't want to have to re-enter it every time.
Had to turn on global storage for those fields.
