I have several layouts in FMP 13.
I just modified one extensively. It shows up in the form and list view, but not in the table view, where I need it.
Restarting not help.
No amount of layout modification in Layout mode will affect what you see in Table view. To change what you see in Table view, click on the Modify button at the top right of the layout when in Browse mode.
when you say it's not showing up in Table View what do you mean? The fields are not displayed across the top?
Maybe the layout is doing exactly what you told it to do?
Take a look at layout setup, Views, for your layout.
To the right of the drop down menu choice of layouts on my mac, there are three icons. Two of them, form and list, have the revised layout with the appropriate fields in the right place. The table icon shows me a table alright, but the old layout.
Table view is checked in that Layout Setup dialog box.
Both: Thank you for answering so quickly...Thinking caps still on?
Keyword: What you say is true. This means then that all the careful aligning, and other formatting that I do in Layout view, is lost when I go to sheet view, and use 'Modify'? Why don't the changes that I make in Layout cascade into all views?
Table view allows for an independent view similar to spreadsheet that is easy for you to view and move fields. It does all of the alignment for you and lets you move fields around so you can see what you need. Form and List view can not be changed on the fly like table view. Everything stays exactly as you set it up. Between all three you have the best of all options. I think
Will get used to it.
What Bruce says is spot on. Table view has its uses, but be wary of allowing users to access table view. If you are putting effort into designing layouts don't allow table view on that layout—via the layout control posted by the other Bruce earlier in this thread.
Thanks to both Bruces!
