    Protecting Dropdown from user 'editing'

I have a portal and it has a dropdown on it composed of the Key and Name

It works but it is 'possible' for the user to click inside the DropDown (which shows the KEY) and try and write a name.

Question:  "Is there a way to keep the user from clicking into the DropDown and over writing the Key?

I realize I can open a new window or PopOver and put a portal on it but I would like to keep this as simple as possible

and use the layout and portal shown below)

(I don't want to use a PopUp  because it does not have a scrolling 'elevator')
