How do I export the contents (being a picture file) from a container field to downloads or wherever.
See this link Exporting the field contents of a container field | FileMaker
I use a loop script to export from three Container fields (if the fields have content) to a specific folder on my Macintosh setting the filename to a date timestamp from the embedded meta data of the photograph.
Thanks for the inspiration, I was looking for something like this in order to export container files from several related records. I used Base Elements to create a folder on the desktop in the beginning of the script, so I can have a folder named with the "project" that I'm exporting.
You may already be aware of this, however, if not, in FileMaker 17, FileMaker can now natively create folders within the script itself.
Thanks for the reminder! We are still running FM16, but starting developing in FM17 now and will upgrade after DevCon in order to give them some time for bug-testing.
You've been able to do that container file export natively using SQL using JDBC and FMP's free JDBC driver.
Also, since FMP version 12, it's straightforward using Base64Encode and a simple micro-service to do the export programmatically. Note that this approach also works with ANY type of binary container field data, not just the few that FMP's SQL supports.
No reason to upgrade for this existing functionality, IMHO.
