this function will help you:
One of the attribute name is:
filename The name of the file inserted into the container field.
You should download the FileMaker® Pro 14 Functions Reference PDF file. There is a lot to discover !
Hi, I think this is the answer or almost. I can't get it working...fileMaker returns an error. I created a text field to hold the result of the function. I added 'GetContainerAttribute ( Lease Doc ; filename )' to the Calculation Value for the new field, but it won't let me save this...I get an error "The Specified Field can't be found." This doesn't make sense, since I select the Lease Doc field from the field list. Plus, it seems to not like the attribute 'filename' -- because it accepts the function with the Lease Doc field if I put the attribute in quotes -- i.e., "filename" But it doesn't work with the attribute in quotes. Frustrating to be so close...
Thanks, Beverly. Tons of good info on Functions to review and use. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the GetContainerAttribute function working. The filename attribute returns an error and won't let me save it.
Ignore my last note. I got it working...thank you and Beverly too!!!
I was using the function to calculate a result for a Text field...the results Field needed to be a Calculation Type.
