Working with FileMaker 14, would like to set up a 125% zoom for some detailed work. Any ideas? Karl Amundson
Then why not just make all the objects on the layout bigger???
No need for script triggers at all...
If you insist, then your choice for zoom is
Remeber with FMP14 the new navigation header and footer parts do not zoom...
support this request: 125% Zoom, please
Support this request. Yes please and quickly
Win or Mac
on Win check the expands windows box in preferences to make it bigger all the time
Windows 7 64-bit on Dell Laptops...
Are you scripting it when you go into a layout or all the time?
Yes I would be scripting and use trigger entering a layout and then soon level back to 100% leave the layout and additionally a bun with 125 on it.
I have found on various monitors, OS's and any number of variables, that even 150% zoom can be 'wonky' for FM layout objects. I'd be wary of 125%. The x100 zooms (200, 300, 400) all seem to be ok.
I'd prefer a 600 and/or 800 zoom (especially when developing for that fine tuning), but I can zoom my monitor, so that's a bit unnecessary.
This is a temporary fix for the re-work going from FileMaker 11 to 14. Thanks. Karl
Thanks, We have now computers, Dell Latitude E5550 and the setting are problematic. We are playing with various setting and FM preference > readabilities.
What you need to do to fix it, set your DPI scaling in Display Settings to 100% (works instantly if set to any setting above 100%).
<-- has instructions for Win 7 and 8, but it similar process in Win 10
Set up FileMaker Pro 14 to Readability.
Edit > Preference > General > "Enlarge window contents to improve readability"
Hope this helps persons with a Dell PC with FileMaker Pro 14. Karl Amundson
NOT an option on my Mac w/ FMPA14, so YMMV.
OTOH, my OS has a zoom feature that I use as needed.
for best readability and performance, a screen should be used at its native pixel resolution.
You can play with scaled resolution, though.
The preference also should be used by users who want WYSIWYG(ish) , default setting of FM shows all things smaller than specified size.
Comparing FM15 (left) and WordPad (right)
FM draws 24pt text as 18pt on screen. This may be come from standard Windows display is (rather say was?) 96DPI, not 72.
(Captured on Windows7, 100% setting of display)
I agree, it's a hell.
Still, FileMaker should do a very simple math, the company they're a subsidiary of sells 21" and 27" desktop iMacs, 27 / 21 = 1.28 which calls for a 125% zoom, not a useless 150%.
If you design full screen interface on 21", it will need scrolling when zoomed to 150% on a 27". Not so if zoomed to 125%.
best readability? what about for those visually impaired? I don't play with display, but with zoom.
20 + years ago Quark Xpress allowed me to zoom in to 281.7 % if that's what I wanted.
AND btw it also allowed me to set the let's say top of a layout element to be 31 + 17.5 * 23 pt - 7/5 mm , just had to type the calc in the "top" field.
Yeah, I know. "other" apps allow a zoom in-app that is typed.
