The pop up can sit on top of the drop down and use a go to object script to go to the drop down. You then set the pop up field based on the drop down selection.
Which exact step top you are missing is not clear, but there are plenty of examples if you search about.
If you want the pop up to function like a drop down, why not just use a drop down? What do you gain by trying to integrate the two.
Because only the popup can display a name field while actually storing a UUID for a relationship.
I now pause over the popover menu option and say NO! Use portals in popovers or slide panels. Then you know you have the flexibility to show a longer list or filter, auto complete, multi select and multi panel selection steps. More work, but reusable
Even if popups do the trick, the formatting options are basic and they let your layouts down. Sorry bit of a vent!
BIgtom, thanks for the clarification. This is something that I've rarely used so I forgot about the behavior.
Re. "The pop up can sit on top of the drop down and use a go to object script to go to the drop down."
Do you have an example of the script? With the pop-up on top, I'm not seeing how the auto-complete from the dd would work.
A rough explanation. When you go to the dropdown object it becomes active. Kinda busy now.
Give the drop down an object name.
Drop down could be a global.
Give the pop up a button setup to run a script:
Go To Object("DropDrownObjectName")
Give the dropdown a script trigger to set the popup field. OnModify or OnExit should work.
Clear global if used.
I'm having some trouble putting using your suggestion:
1. Pop-up button: The 'go to dd object' single script step doesn't work for some reason.
2. dd script:
- I'm not sure where to get the fk_productID from via the dd?
When you say, "Drop down could be a global", do you mean the fk_productID?
