In your "local" file, what do you see when you choose File, Manage, External Data Sources?
Can you post a screen shot and obscure the ip/domain?
And remember that you should have FM Server stopped before renaming the hosted file.
I have a "separated" solution, but also host the "local" file for all the valid reasons to host a file. The interface file, has dual 'external data source' references.
FMPAdvanced is used to rename files:
Sorry, should have said wasn't using Server. FM Pro 14 and Mavericks in use here.
In External Data Sources it's:
I want to change that to
make sure BOTH names are there (return delimited) in the dialog in the "local" file:
Then make the filename change on the "server". (after backing both up, of course).
If these are NOT on FMServer, are they in the same directory? If so, then opening and changing with FMPAdvanced (as in the link above), the rename will automatically fix all references and there is no need to make manual changes at all.
Got it!!! Thanks Beverly, very much appreciated! I wasn't putting the new filename into the External Data Sources in the correct place. All sorted now thanks
