I want a single space before any text word starts in text field while when we make text field align left.
My guess it's because you don't want the first letter to be too close to the left border of the field. Is that right ?
If so it's a matter of presentation. Go to Layout mode, select the field and set the padding for the field. Padding is defined as the distance before a field content and it's edge. You may separately set the padding for top, bottom, left and right. it's on Appearance Tab.
If you are using FileMaker 12, the padding is not an option. You can accomplish this in 12 by using the Indent under the Appearance tab.
I don't know how you know if it's FM 12, but that's a good answer, rg!
Inspector, Appearance tab, Paragraph section, Indents sub-section, Left is the place to add "spacing" to the field in any versions that have Inspector. This helps especially when the fields are in Table View. For numbers and right-aligned fields, I use the Right indent and add spacing there.
I was only guessing it might be 12. I didn't want them searching for the padding if they were using 12.
Yes! that's why I said it was a good answer
Well done, rg!!
good point ! That tells I worked much more in 13 and 14 than in 12 .
Let's hope we will hear back from samarthmkt.
Thanks to all above friends for giving me such good tips.
