# Printing 4 Pages Per Sheet to Cut and Stack in quadrants?

Hello,

A client of mine needs to print 4 pages per sheet and then cut them into 4 equal pieces and easily stack them alphabetically.  The pages will be printed alphabetically.

The only way I have been able to print them is sequentially where pages 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all on the first page, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are all on the 2nd page and so on:

 1 2 3 4

 7 8 9 10

or

 1 3 2 4

 7 8 9 10

etc.

This means each card/sheet has to be sorted individually.

What I would like to do is to print them so that a stack is formed in each QUADRANT, like this:

 1 4 7 10

 2 5 8 11

 3 6 9 12

If the number of sheets needed is not a multiple of 4, the extra sheets should be printed as blanks.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much,

- Jim

Is each page a record and how many sheets will you need to print? If you don't need to print many sheets and each page is a record you might be able to do something with putting 4 portals on a page with the approriate record number for each portal.

Extending what rgordon is saying and if each record is a page then mathematically the pattern is based on moving each number (record?) to its own page based on groups of 4. By adding a new field to store a 'print on page #' for sorting purposes it should be be possible to use a found count  to calculate the number of 4 record pages that would be printed and then go back to each record and loop through the found set and put in the page number the record should be printed on based on the record number then resort and print.  Having said all that I haven't figure it out yet but I am sure there are others on the list that can more quickly than I and likely without adding a new field. I'm looking forward to the 'real' answers!

Try creating a customised Labels layout.
