I assume the problem lies in a combination of
• a user adding .pdf to the intended doc name
• your export script adding .pdf to that name (again)
A simple remedy would probably be to use a replacing auto-enter calc for the docName field like:
Right ( Self ; 4 ) = ".pdf" ;
Left ( Self ; Length ( self ) - 4 ) ;
Of course, if the substring "pdf" would never appear elsewhere, you could simply use …
Substitute ( Self ; ".pdf" ; "" ) ;
… but that strikes me as a bit blunt
Good solution, erolst!
One thing I found (on Mac) was if the "Hide extension" was the default, then saving a PDF would hide the .pdf and make it appear to have no extension. Adding one (by user, likely) and then turning on to show extensions, would reveal .pdf.pdf!
It's an anomaly that I can't define all methods to get there, but noted as a "possibility" when I saw it happen a few times. YMMV, or YKMV
YKMV – "kilométrage"?
Your Kilometres Will Vary.
(or 'may' instead of will)...
If you are exporting it as a PDF there is no need to add.pdf into the name. Certain combinations of FileMaker version and OS (Windows and mac) will cause the .pdf.pdf if you do.
