I want a user to be able to select a portal filter via a radio button. I would like the variables filter to be applied to a self-join relationship. I initially thought I could set it up so that the selections would be global values. Then I would use a field (field A) that would be a calculation to equal the global value. Field A would then be used as the predicate for the self-join relationship to filter the portal. Then I started thinking about how this would work when multiple people were using the database. As I understand how things work, global values exist relative to a user session. One person's global value could be different from another persons's. What I don't understand is how this would work for a field that calculates off the global. Can Field A's value be different for one person than for another person?
Yes, it will be different for each user.
Be sure it is storage is set to "unstored".
