best way to convert fmp v12 files to fmp v14?
I don't believe any "conversion" will be needed as the .fmp12 file format is common to both versions.
If, however, you add features supported by FMP 14, such as button bars, then these won't display should you subsequently open the file with V12.
I hope this helps.
just open the files in FM14, there is no special conversion process. As John mentioned, don't use new objects like button bars, PopOver, etc with old clients
The file format did not change from FileMaker Pro 12 to FileMaker Pro 14. So no conversion needed.
If you add extra features added in FileMaker Pro 14 (and FileMaker Pro 13) it won't work if you open this file in the FileMaker Pro 12 application.
In addition to the new features mentioned by the otheres, there are also a few scripttriggers added and a few Get() functions in the Calculations.
Best to go forward to FileMaker Pro 14 and not go back!
No wonder I can't find instructions for it, which I've been looking for for several days! Thanks for your reply.
Thanks for your reply. I totally understand about not adding new v14 features if my users are still in v12, but I'm still not sure what file extension to use... ".fmp12" or ".fmp14"? Do you know?
Thanks Markus. Do you know what file extension to use... ".fmp12" or ".fmp14"?
There is no conversion.
Don't rename, don't change extension. Don't do anything.
there's no such thing as .fmp14.
