I have Filemaker Server 14 and I VPN in to change records as needed. I want to mask or hide certain records from appearing without deleting them. Is there a way to do this?
If connecting via FMP you could create an OnFirstWindowOpen script to find the records you want and you won't see others. That is if I understand your question properly . . .
I am connecting to the Server Version through Filemaker 14.0.5. I do edit through Filemaker Pro.
We have a database that is accessed through http://www.patinsproject.com/services/lending-libraries/search. We have old items that we do not want to delete from the database but we don't want them to show up on this database that the public sees.
Would the OnFirstWindowOpen script do this?
are you using PHP to access the database?
I access it through VPN.
But your online is where you need to HIDE records from the public, correct? And that is PHP served?
Yes that is correct.
what security privilege is set for the users? I would use FM's built-in security to prevent those records from being viewed by the public. "old" items must be flagged in some way that the security can be used.
